Allow Me To Introduce myself...
JAMES AGER
FREELANCE WRITER
BIOGRAPHY
I knew I was destined to write from an early age, but it’s been a long journey from hastily-scrawled Thunderbirds fan fiction at age six to true credibility today!
When I accrued a prize at a local Ottakar’s poetry competition in my final year of primary school, I realised there might be a career in writing for me, not just a hobby. Nurturing my talent, I went on to achieve an A* at English Literature A-Level, along with As in the similarly essay-heavy subjects of French, History and Spanish, before refining my critical and analytical writing through a Spanish and Arabic BA at the University of Durham.
For seven years from 2015 to 2022, I served as a Researcher for the legal publisher Chambers & Partners, in which capacity I regularly employed and built upon my technical and descriptive writing skills. My work for Chambers included everything from professional correspondence to succinct, illustrative copy for the company's annual guides.

In my spare time I’ve maintained a film review blog, which has allowed me to appraise art on its own merits while letting loose my verbose commentary with increased confidence! In 2015 I took my critical skills to the wider public as a volunteer writer for online magazine The Upcoming.
I’ve made several forays into poetry and novel writing, with my work being published in the Durham University Creative Writing Society’s 2012-13 Anthology. I also helped to take my secondary school to the National Final of the English Speaking Union’s Public Speaking Competition, where I won an Award for Best Personality as my team’s speaker.
All these skills and experiences have primed me to offer highest quality written work across an array of styles and genres.
